2022 Official Selection: Feature Film – Documentary

Singing gospel in his mother’s Jim Crow Georgia church in the 1950’s placed Frank Bey on a path to become a great R&B singer, until in 1977 a deal exploded with James Brown, causing Frank to stop performing for 17 years. But an inspirational, almost spiritual awakening after a kidney transplant in 2001 drove Frank back to the stage, where he sang in venues domestic and international, won many awards, and was awarded a Grammy nomination in 2021.
